A VW Atlas SEL premium R line and X7 m60i. I've driven an Atlas before and being a VW/Audi fanboy, liked it, but hands down the X7 beats it in every category (minus cargo, maybe), but it does come with a significant price increase. Have you looked at the Q7? I think it rides on the same platform as the Atlas and may provide the room you're looking for along with many of the lux features in the X7. Transmission in the X7 is hands down better that anything in the Atlas. I do miss the gear lever I had in my 2021 X7, but getting used to the crystal rocker switch in our 2023 X7. Granted they are not standard in the X7 and you need to select a pkg, but tis the way BMW operates.ģ - Lots of other vehicles moved to or are moving to buttons or switches for gear selection.even knobs on some. The X7 40i has a base price of $78k but it's really more of a $90-95k car once you select all the important options.Īnd there's going to be a very big difference between the interior quality of the $78k X7 and the $95k X7. You need to mentally adjust the base MSRP of any BMW up by 20% to get the actual price of a reasonably equipped build. The luxury German manufacturers just do things differently. You could make similar comparisons to any Toyota, Hyundai, VW. (Yes the BMW version is better overall, but the Honda system isn't that far behind) A base car is a really stripped down barebones build, you need to tick all the options.Ī $35k Honda Accord has many more features than a $80k base X7 or even a $100k X7 M60.Ī $21k base Honda Civic has adaptive cruise + lane keep as standard features BMW currently charges $1700 for it.
This is just the way BMW, Mercedes, Audi do it.

Of course there's much more options but you get a bunch for free on the Atlas and it's half the price. A lot of these things are options on the x7. Atlas has digital cockpit, CarPlay, wireless charging, light beam interior, heated steering wheel, all under 50K.
